  • Sat Mar 14 2026 1102 : Lovely snow on the trees first thing this morning. A steady seven mph breeze was blowing down the tot-lot path and across the road melting the snow in a swath including my drive, the road and your drive. Tom and Mary got no relief but our drives were mostly clear at dawn! Think the tall fir trees, garage and the drieways were still warm from Friday. Pretty close to perfect snowstorm!

  • Wed Mar 04 2026 1058 : Unlike my old Bobcat blower, slush clogs this one. Had to keep going way up to the shaded parts of my drive to get the chute clear at 9:30 or so. Just pushed slush to the sides of your drive at the very end with a shovel for 10 min before coming back in to finish tanning. Beautiful day out! Hope travels are smooth for you.

  • Wed Feb 25 2026 1330 : Oh Cool! Yea, I love old cloths because if they get dirty it's no big deal. Was thinking after Sandy left how much easier it is to get along with other professor's kids. Like we're a bit different from normy but mostly in the same direction. Tom looked hurt when I mentioned damage to the garage floor from not cleaning the blower and implying that I'd rather do my own drive. Bummer if he really felt that bad, but what other option is there if wear's his heart on his sleeve and oversteps polite boundaries at the same time?
  • Wed Feb 25 2026 1330 : You were fast today Mary! Nice light snow at least. Sorry if the remark about your pants the other day was over the top, it was just the outfit had looked so pristine from a distance that it caught me by surprise to see the bottoms looking like my favorite beat up shoes I wear all the time. Sandy walked by and, after noticing my shoes, mentioned she has a battery powered blower now and all her tools run on the same batteries.
  • Tue Feb 24 2026 0513 : Hey Mary I think a surprising percent of people would totally get emotions about someone not taking as much care about the house you grew up in. Start of this month, Greg texted about Lainey wanting any and all jewelry not already taken from the house. It is only a few brown stones and one worn plated and plastic fake jade bracelet that Lainey already had hours to look at one day going through everything in Jane's room. I will take a picture and ask Greg if she's sure she wants this mostly brown junk jewelry that does not match her complexion and eye color. Seems most likely to be pawned or tossed out, whereas one or two pieces that I recognize from youth have become a special physical thing that I've still got that was Mom's and will last. These few pieces have been carefully sitting on a shelf in that room for years. So, is it right for me to be attached and feeling any upset about losing - especially things I recall her wearing? I have clothing too that I'd feel hurt about if "all" of that was requested. It crosses my mind that cloths can't be pawned, so does the value play in to the request? Should that matter? Is it reasonable for me to take such good care of the house here too? I don't know if it "should" matter, but these things represent connection to past and parents and thus caring is more than just for physical stuff. If it was specific items, or something stated in the will that would make it clear and simple. Anyway, reasonable or not, some things get emotional connections and really matter. Seems likely similar for your house, especially with all the time and effort you've put into care for the house that made you.
  • Mon Feb 23 2026 1239 : The wind seems way below what was expected but still enough to blow snow and branches around. Suspect the brunt of the storm is hitting further south. There was only about 1/2 inch of snow at 5:30am but the plow passed here twice since then too. With drifts it is hard to guess how much, but a foot or less seems likely. Your drive does not look bad now, but another plow going by could change that. National Weather Service predicts only 3 more inches mostly before dark, but I like to make it easy for the postman to walk up and multiple blowings make each one goes faster.
  • Mon Feb 23 2026 1239 : Busy Morning. Had to rewatch Matt Boldy's amazing stick handling gold-game drive again! Just did the very end of your drive. Snow is heavier but less deep than predicted and the wind has actually cleaned down to blacktop up near your garage. May go out before dark again today but drifts will probably form by tomorrow even if the snow stops. The blower has gears for forward, back and steering triggers to turn. I usually just brute it around for speed and exercise but it can work with minimal effort. This video shows most of the same features, but that model has a newer electronic chute control: youtube.com/watch?v=NNKDEenImwg
  • Sun Feb 22 2026 1246 : Hey Mary, I'll probably do the drive around 9-10am Monday and Tuesday. If you'd like I can clear just the road or a little way up your drive. By the way, the blower has gears for forward, back and steering with a trigger to release right/left wheel from the drive on each handle. I usually just brute it around for speed and exercise. The chute can turn and change the height of the snow coming out with a joystick with a red button (slightly sticky) that you press to swivel. This video shows most of the same features, and the wheel turning trigger part is at 5 minutes, but the vid has an electronic chute control: youtube.com/watch?v=NNKDEenImwg

  • Mon Feb 02 2026 1134 : Hey Greg, most everything for business improvements or new business development is deductable for 2026 (that may mean in the 2027 filing.) New businesses also have an odd limit of 50 grand to avoid depreciation over 15 years to check into. Likely a good tax shelter option though. It is also possible to roll a few grand into another IRA account annually to avoid tax on the rolled $. One site said: "The penalty for missing an RMD from an inherited IRA is 25%, but this fee may be reduced if the mistake is corrected within two years." Here is a good RMD calculator schwab.com/ira/ira-calculators/inherited-ira-rmd-calculator

She mentioned standing squats as a running alternative so I looked that up. You may already know but your foot angles when scooching down effects hip grinding. youtube.com/watch?v=ubdIGnX2Hfs
